![]() ![]() There are studies with individuals who didn’t eat breakfast were given a few eggs and showed there was increased satiety through the day when kcals were equated for the day. There are studies that show reducing overall mass improves insulin sensitivity. Then they were put on a kcal restriction and both groups lost weight and blood markers improved. Both groups gained weight and blood marker worsened. There are overfeeding studies that had equated kcals and protein, but had groups with high fat low carb and low fat high carb. I have immune responses to gluten, so that’s a no for me. There are no bad food, except the gods that we don’t handle well. But even if I want to eat something truly high calorie (like last night I had tater tots, fried fish, and roasted asparagus), I can usually fit that in by eating something lower calorie at another meal.Ĭarbs aren’t bad. I can usually adapt my recipes and favorite foods to be lower calorie by reducing some of the higher fat ingredients and adding more vegetables to them. Burrito bowls, stuffed bell peppers, roasted vegetables with chicken thighs and a roll, salmon with salad, potato soup with bacon, and steak with baked potato and broccoli are examples of meals I enjoy that can fit into a calorie deficit. I usually just try to have a tasty vegetable side with my meals to fill them out and be more nutrient dense, but there is no reason that you can't eat a fatty cut of meat and a carb source with those vegetables. You also don't need to eat bland food or eat breakfast to lose weight. Like usually rice, bread, rolls, potatoes, or pasta as an element in my meals. I guess I've started to feel similarly about alcohol. I'm not used to it anymore and it feels weird and I rarely even feel like having any. I didn't drink soda at all for like 5 years and nowadays i don't really want it, if someone has bough soda for a party I usually have enough to cover the bottom of a cup so that's a sip or two and if I'm feeling very rebellious, I drink half a cup. My friends know I don't want to drink that much so they don't reserve me drinks and we always have alcohol free options just in case someone prefers juice or soda.Īnd I think the less you drink the less you want to. I've also started to be more picky about my drinks, I'd rather have one good quality drink than many cheaper ones that I like less. I think alternative fun activities are the reason all of us drink less than before. We usually play board games but for example today we went ice skating. Now obviously the clubs have been closed and my friend group has started doing other activities. We used to go clubbing at least once a week and drink at least 6 drinks each time we went. Okay so my eating habits aren't the healthiest, but I used to be a big social drinker. Take it slow, be mindful, don't be rough with yourself. There is no secret recipe to change your eating habits. I know it's more expensive, but I think that's the price I have to pay for binging. I cannot have chocolate without wanting the whole bar. Tests new ingredients (if budget allows). I don't believe that eating chicken + rice + broccoli all week is ok. Eggs replaced with egg white if possible and so on). Also trying to limit how much I bake and maybe do some changes there when I can (less sugar replaced with sugar with 0 cal. But i realized that I love crunchy and starchy carbs. So I just eat what I know I like, although I sometimes eat eggplant 3-4x/week. Love eggplant and zucchini and mushrooms. I still feel hungry after 1h no matter what I eat.
